The vortex whistle
The vortex tube produces a characteristic whistling sound. Kurosaka thought that there was a connection between this so called vortex whistle and the energy separation - read the dissertation for more details
I recorded the sound under several conditions (the spectral content is analysed in the text). WAV files of some of my recordings are available here.
